DISPL CMS allows multiple creatives to be added to a single campaign while displaying only one creative each time the campaign appears in the advertising loop.
After each playback, the system preserves the current playlist position. When the campaign appears again, the next creative in the playlist is displayed.
This configuration is useful when several creatives must rotate sequentially across consecutive advertising blocks.
Expected playback behavior
For a playlist containing multiple creatives:
- The first campaign occurrence plays the first creative.
- The next occurrence plays the second creative.
- The system continues through the playlist in the configured order.
- After the last creative, playback returns to the first one.
- The sequence repeats throughout the campaign period.
All creatives must be added to the same campaign playlist.
Prerequisites
Before starting, make sure that:
- The required devices are connected to DISPL CMS.
- The content files are ready for upload.
- Your account has permission to create and launch campaigns.
- The required campaign schedule and target devices are known.
Step 1. Create a campaign
- Sign in to DISPL CMS.
- Open the Media Plan section.
- Click Add Campaign.
- Select the Videos and Images campaign type.
- Enter a clear campaign name.
- Proceed to the content selection step.
Step 2. Add the creatives
Upload the required content files or select existing files from the content library.
Arrange the creatives in the exact order in which they must be displayed.
For example:
Creative 1 → Creative 2 → Creative 3
The order of items in the playlist defines the playback sequence.
Step 3. Open the playlist rules
- Locate the media zone containing the playlist.
- Click Rules.
- Open the rotation and playback-order settings.
The names of individual controls may differ slightly depending on the selected interface language.
Step 4. Configure rotation
In the Rotation section:
- Enable Alternate playback.
- Set the number of content units played at one time to:
1 content unit at a time
This setting ensures that only one playlist item is displayed during each campaign occurrence.
Without this setting, all creatives may play consecutively within the same advertising block.
Step 5. Configure the playback order
Enable Playback order.
Select:
As specified in the playlist — preserve when switching
Depending on the interface version, the option may appear as:
As specified in the playlist (save when switching)
This configuration ensures that:
- Creatives follow the order specified in the playlist.
- The current playlist position is preserved when the campaign switches to other content.
- The next campaign occurrence continues with the next creative.
Step 6. Save the playlist rules
Click Apply, Save, or the corresponding confirmation button.
Verify the following configuration:
| Setting | Required value |
|---|---|
| Alternate playback | Enabled |
| Content units at a time | 1 |
| Playback order | As specified in the playlist |
| Preserve position when switching | Enabled |
Step 7. Configure the campaign schedule
Set the required playback period:
- Select the campaign start date and time.
- Select the campaign end date and time.
- Add weekday restrictions when required.
- Add time-of-day restrictions when required.
- Confirm that the campaign is active during all required advertising periods.
Step 8. Select target devices
Select the devices on which the campaign must be displayed.
Devices can be selected:
- Individually;
- By device group;
- By tag;
- By profile.
Confirm that only the required devices are included.
Step 9. Launch the campaign
Review the complete configuration:
- All creatives are included in one campaign.
- The playlist order is correct.
- Alternate playback is enabled.
- One content unit is played at a time.
- Playlist position is preserved when switching.
- The schedule is correct.
- The required devices are selected.
Click Run to launch the campaign or Save and Close to keep it as a draft.
Step 10. Verify playback
Monitor several consecutive campaign occurrences on one of the selected devices.
Confirm that:
- Only one creative plays during each occurrence.
- The next occurrence plays the next creative.
- The campaign does not restart from the first playlist item every time.
- After the last playlist item, the sequence starts again from the beginning.
The Shows History report can also be used to verify which content was displayed, on which device, and at what time.
