Synchronized playback of content
You may configure videowalls to work flawlessly using DISPL!
Having multiple media display points running each of them a different instance of DISPL Player is no obstacle for synchronized playback.
You can play the first content of each playlist at the same time, in a synchronized manner, so the #1 content of all playlists are played at the same time, and also the #2, the #3, and so on...
Usecase: Foodcourt digital menus
Digital menus are very prominent usecases of videowalls at the shopping mall environment, using synchronized media playback.
How synchronization works (briefly)
- DISPL Player detects if there are other devices in the same local network (WiFi or LAN);
- Each DISPL Player is playing their respective campaigns, and sharing their playback statuses through P2P;
- The contents in all campaigns will be played in the same order as seen at the media zone, synchronized.
- One campaign is set by the user as Master, the other campaigns are Slaves that follow its pace;
- Sync groups are determined by name, you may set many at the same time under the same local network;
- Internet connection is not required for synchronization, only local network connection.
How to do it
You will need:
- Two or more devices running DISPL Player;
- Digital Signage-ready subscriptions for each device;
- Two or more campaigns: one master, other slaves.
- Desired media content files.
Step-by-step
- Create a campaign with media gallery template, such as "Full screen static".
- On "Settings"
, select the synchronization "In the same local network".
- Choose a sync group name - "sync", by default.
- Check "Master"
if this campaign will command the others. Leave it unchecked
, if the campaign will be a Slave, and follow the pace of another campaign.
- Do the equivalent creating the other campaigns.
- Run the created campaigns in all the devices and test your results.
- If the synchronization still doesn't show: make sure the devices "see each other" through P2P, check if they're under the same local network (or WiFi), and change P2P transport type.
